How Kazam EV is Accelerating Electric Mobility in Bengaluru Through Project JOULE
| As Bengaluru gears up for a greener future, Kazam EV is proud to lead the way with cutting-edge solutions in the EV charging ecosystem.
Kazam, a pioneer in the electric vehicle (EV) charging ecosystem, is excited to be at the centre of Project JOULE. Our responsibilities will include creating and managing a network of shared EV charging stations around Bengaluru. This initiative is completely consistent with our goal of making EV charging accessible and efficient for everyone, paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future.
Today, we are excited to announce that Kazam will play a key part in Project JOULE, an ambitious new initiative coordinated by The Climate Pledge. This project will revolutionise Bengaluru's last-mile electrification and mark a critical milestone in our quest to accelerate the transition to green mobility. Kazam's critical participation in JOULE will help move this transformative journey towards greener mobility.
Project JOULE: A Collaborative Leap Towards Green Mobility
On September 16th, 2024, The Climate Pledge unveiled Project JOULE (Joint Operation Unifying Last-Mile Electrification), a ground-breaking project aimed at creating a shared network of EV charging stations in Bengaluru, India. The Climate Pledge, cofounded in 2019 by Amazon and Global Optimism, aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement's targets.
Project JOULE brings together some of the biggest organisations, including Amazon, Mahindra Logistics, Uber, HCLTech, Greenko, Deloitte, and Kazam, to collaborate on an innovative new project. They plan to invest more than $2.65 million by 2030 to improve Bengaluru's electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. The goal is to enable the city transition to 100% electric cars for taxis, business fleets and three-wheelers by 2030, making mobility cleaner and greener.
The goal of the initiative is to address several of the major challenges to EV adoption in India, such as a lack of charging stations, range anxiety, and expensive capital costs for businesses. Project JOULE seeks to provide accessible and effective charging choices for an expanding number of electric vehicles by building a network of shared, well-utilized charging stations.
Kazam’s Impact on Project JOULE: Driving the Future of EV Charging
Kazam, the leading EV charging platform, is thrilled to be at the core of Project JOULE. Our responsibilities include developing and operating a network of shared EV charging stations around Bengaluru. This effort is perfectly aligned with our aim of making EV charging accessible and efficient for all, paving the road for a greener, more sustainable future.
The inaugural charging station of Project JOULE has been opened in Doddakallasandra, and we intend to build five additional stations in Bengaluru before the end of the year. These charging stations will be deliberately placed to maximise accessibility and efficiency, servicing not merely individual EV owners but also corporate fleets and rapid commerce participants.
The Broader Impact of Project JOULE
Project JOULE is more than just an infrastructure project; it represents a crucial step towards a more sustainable future. By 2030, the project is expected to support around 5,500 EVs in Bengaluru, with the ability to service up to 9,500 EVs if completely operational. Other companies will be able to use the pooled charging network as well, increasing infrastructure utilisation and efficiency.
The project is projected to have significant environmental advantages as well. By 2030, it is expected to save more than 11.2 million litres of fuel and cut CO2 emissions by 25,700 metric tons. It would additionally generate an estimated 185 full-time employment opportunities in Bengaluru between 2024 and 2030, boosting the local economy and promoting sustainability goals.
Kazam’s Vision for the Future of EV Charging
As Bengaluru embraces electric mobility, Kazam plans to extend its charging infrastructure to fulfil the city's changing needs. Our participation in Project JOULE is merely one aspect of our larger aim to lead the way in green mobility.
We are enthused about this project's potential to establish an entirely novel standard for electric vehicle charging infrastructure in India. By tackling current challenges and developing scalable, economical solutions, Kazam hopes to help the government achieve its target of having 30% of all new car sales be electric by 2030.
Along with to our collaboration with Project JOULE, Kazam is constantly looking for new ways to improve EV charging options and accelerate the rise of green transportation. Our commitment to both innovation and sustainability underpins all we do, and we are excited to contribute towards a healthier, greener future for Bengaluru and beyond.
As Bengaluru prepares for a more sustainable tomorrow, Kazam EV is pleased to lead the way with innovative technologies in the EV charging ecosystem. We're collaborating with industry titans like Amazon and Mahindra Logistics on Project JOULE, a common network of charging stations that will transform last-mile electrification. Our objective is straightforward: make EV charging easy, convenient, and efficient for everyone, from fleet operators to individual vehicle owners.
Join us at Kazam for this exciting journey as we drive Bengaluru toward sustainable mobility!
