50 E-Buses will start running in 2022 across the city
The Kerala State Road Transport Authority (KSRTC) has decided to operate electric buses in all major cities in the state, after which 50 electric buses will operate in Thiruvananthapuram from the starting of 2022. KSRTC will launch these buses in Kochi and Kozhikode after Thiruvananthapuram. As per the reports, the city's new transport links will use electric and natural gas buses. The tendering process is in the final phase. Diesel city buses are being taken out of service and replaced by green buses. The state government has announced a Rs 300 crore project to convert the Rs 3,000 KSRTC bus into CNG buses. The width of all the approved buses will be 9 meters. Rs.100 crores have already been approved for this project to speed up the process of conversion of traditional buses into e-buses.
