1. Tata Nexon EV to embark on a K2K journey (Kashmir to Kanyakumari).
The Tata Nexon EV will begin a journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari February 25 onwards. A total of 4000 km will be covered over four days with stops only for charging the electric SUV. The expedition aims to cover 1000 km per day in order to achieve its target. Commenting on this exciting expedition, Tata Motors gave a statement: “Being an evolving technology, it is important to demonstrate the capabilities and possibilities of EVs in real world conditions. By setting out on this ambitious journey with the Nexon EV, we want to inspire existing and prospective EV owners by offering them conclusive proof of the Nexon EV’s long-range, accompanied by the growing charging network, of our ecosystem partners at Tata Power.” Tata Nexon’s long range version, the Nexon EV Max will take on this challenging K2K journey. Through this voyage, Tata Motors is trying to break the notion that EVs are just city cars.
2. Xiaomi showcases an e-scooter.
Xiaomi unveiled an e-scooter named ‘Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra’ at the MWC 2023 (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona (Spain). The e-scooter sports a 561.5 Wh battery (for reference: 1000 Wh = 1 kWh). It gives a range of 70 km and has a top speed of 25 km/hr. The mini scooter gets an IP55 rating. It is priced at 999 Euros (Rs 87,500 approx).
3. Citroen eC3 price finally revealed.
Citroen India has finally disclosed the prices of its electric hatchback ‘eC3’. Prices start at Rs 11.50 lakh. The eC3 is identical to its ICE counterpart cosmetically.
It sports a 29.2kWh battery that provides a range of 320 km. The Citroen eC3 also has regenerative braking. The hatchback can achieve a top-speed of 107 km/hr. Using a DC fast-charger, the car can be charged from 0-80% in 57 minutes. All Citroen India showrooms will be equipped with DC fast-charging stations by Jio-BP. Customers can book the Citroen eC3 for Rs 25,000.
4. Bajaj and Yulu come together.
Bengaluru-based Yulu and automobile major Bajaj have come together and introduced two light weight electric scooters ‘Miracle GR’ & ‘DeX GR’. The Miracle GR is suitable for city mobility, to commute to market etc. It is lighter than a scooter and faster than a bicycle. The maximum speed is 25 km/hr. The DeX GR is purpose-built for last-mile deliveries. It can hold goods up to 15 kg. The two EVs are specifically engineered for Indian climate & road conditions.
5. BEST to inaugurate 15 EV charging stations in March 2023.
Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will launch 15 EV charging stations in March for public use. These stations will be located at Worli, Colaba, Chowpatty, Churchgate, Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum, Hiranandani bus station, Tardeo bus station, Bandra Reclamation, Bandra (East) bus station, Mahim bus station, Bandra (West) bus station, Goregaon (West) bus station, Seven Bungalows bus station and Walkeshwar bus station. BEST will introduce 55 EV charging stations across Mumbai.
