1. Finland-based Kempower supplies EV charging solutions to GLIDA for EV charging hub in Hyderabad.
Finland-based EV charging tech company Kempower has collaborated with GLIDA for an EV charging hub in Shamshabad, near Hyderabad Airport. The charging hub will be operated by GLIDA (formerly Fortum Charge & Drive India). The charging facility can accomodate up to 102 EVs simultaneously. This hub is the 3rd public EV charging hub in India to feature Kempower’s EV charging tech. The 1st one is in Karnal on the Chandigarh-Delhi Highway, and the 2nd at DLF Cyberpark in Gurugram.
The EV charging hub is decked with Kempower’s Satellite Charging System, which comprises of 1 Power Unit & 6 Satellites. The charging system is modular & scalable, and exhibits dynamic power distribution for each charger. Kempower’s ‘ChargEye’ cloud-based charging management system (CMS) lets GLIDA optimize power distribution & maximize the number of EVs that can be charged simultaneously.
2. Tata Motors opens two EV-exclusive stores in Kochi.
Tata Motors has inaugurated two EV-exclusive showrooms under the TATA.ev brand in Kerala. These showrooms are in Edappally & Kalamassery areas in Kochi district. The Edappally TATA.ev store is now the company’s largest EV showroom in the country, spanning around 8800 sq ft. The showroom in Kalamassery spans around 6100 sq ft. Both showrooms are equipped with 60 kW DC fast EV charging stations.
Also, the showrooms feature Blue Tokai cafés where customers can relax and enjoy snacks & beverages.
3. Maruti Suzuki starts installing EV charging stations at NEXA showrooms.
Maruti Suzuki has started preparations for introducing its 1st electric car ‘eVX’. The eVX electric SUV will be sold through the company's premium dealership network 'NEXA'. Taking this into consideration, Maruti Suzuki has started installing EV charging stations at NEXA showrooms. Currently, the company is intensively testing the upcoming electric car as it boots up for its much-awaited launch in the domestic market. Maruti is expected to launch the eVX at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January next year.
A few months ago, Maruti Suzuki had registered names like ‘Charge Hub’ & ‘Smart Charge’. These can either be the names for the EV charging stations at the company showrooms or standalone EV charging stations by Maruti.
4. Minda signs agreement with China’s Sanco for expanding EV components portfolio in India.
Auto component manufacturer Minda has signed a ‘technology licensing agreement’ with China's Sanco to increase its offerings in India. Minda plans to locally develop newer EV connecting systems & components. This tie-up will see Minda & Sanco jointly work on EV connecting systems, charging guns, busbars, cell contact systems, power distribution units & battery distribution units. With this, Minda aims to strengthen its place in India's EV supply chain.
Shares of Minda Corp jumped by around 5% following the announcement of this agreement.
5. Reliance Industries wins bid for manufacturing EV battery cells under PLI scheme.
Reliance Industries has won a bid under a government incentives program which supports EV battery production. Earlier this year, 7 companies submitted bids to set-up manufacturing units to produce advanced chemistry cells (or ACCs) under the government's PLI scheme. Reliance has won the bid and now, can make up to 10 GWh of ACCs. These advanced chemistry cells or ACCs are used in EV batteries. Reliance beat six competitors, including Amara Raja (Amaron), JSW Energy, Lucas TVS among others.
The scheme has a maximum outlay of $434.4 million (Rs 3620 crores), and is aimed to boost domestic production of batteries. Reliance is expected to launch operations at its battery Gigafactory in Jamnagar (Gujarat) in 2026.
