1. Tata Power inaugurates 2 EV charging stations on the Chandigarh-Shimla highway.
Tata Power has inaugurated two electric vehicle charging stations on the Chandigarh-Shimla highway. The EV charging stations are located at Hotel Falcon Crest in Kandaghat (near Solan) and at The Oberoi Cecil in Shimla. Both the locations are situated along the busy 111 km highway.
EV owners can locate & book the charging stations using the Tata Power EZ Charge app. They can also make online payments for their charging sessions.
2. MG India collaborates with Charge Zone.
MG Motor India has joined hands with EV charging company Charge Zone to jointly set-up EV charging stations at important highways and MG dealerships.
These charging stations will be open for all EV owners. Using the ChargeZone app, people will be able to locate, charge and pay for their charging sessions. Additionally, the two partners will also provide exclusive offers for MG electric car owners. MG India currently has two electric cars in its portfolio: MG ZS EV and MG Comet EV.
3. Test mules of multiple upcoming electric cars spotted on Indian roads.
Maruti Suzuki eVX: The much-awaited Maruti Suzuki eVX was spotted at an EV charging station in Mumbai. The camouflaged test mule of the electric SUV gave a hint that the vehicle will be similar in size as the Grand Vitara.
It is expected that Maruti Suzuki India’s first electric car, the eVX, will feature a 60 kWh battery pack, which will give a range of 400 km. It will compete with the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
Mahindra BE.05 & BE.09: Test mules of two upcoming electric SUVs from Mahindra, the BE.05 & BE.09, were spotted testing in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu.
At present, Mahindra sells only one electric car, the XUV400 EV. The company has plans for an electric variant of the Thar as well.
Apart from the above, there were reports that the Nissan Ariya electric SUV was also spotted testing on Indian roads!
4. BluSmart achieves a major milestone.
Electric cab company BluSmart has announced that it has completed 10 million rides (1 crore rides). The last 2.5 million rides (25 lakh rides) came in just 3.5 months as compared to the 33 months it took to complete the first 2.5 million!
BluSmart has a fleet of over 5000 electric cabs in Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru. The company has also set-up 34 EV charging hubs in strategic locations in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru to ensure efficient operations of its EV fleet.
5. Uttar Pradesh government to install EV charging stations at heritage sites.
To support green tourism, the state government of Uttar Pradesh plans to install 2000 public EV charging stations at civic bodies, tourist spots and heritage sites, including Ram Temple in Ayodhya and Taj Mahal in Agra. The agency handling this project is the state government’s Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA).
UP government has proposed to set-up around 100 EV charging stations at heritage sites in the state including Ram Mandir, Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Sarnath, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Shravasti, etc. Around 200 public charging stations will be set-up at popular tourist spots in Mathura, Vrindavan, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Jhansi. UPEIDA is also working on setting-up 400 charging stations along the expressways in the state, including Yamuna Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Gorakhpur Link Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway and the upcoming Lucknow-Kanpur expressway.
The remaining 1300 charging stations would come up at municipal corporation properties in Agra, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Firozabad, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Noida, Prayagraj & Varanasi.
