Smartphone giant OPPO is all set to launch its electric vehicle by the end of 2023

BBK Electronics' smartphone brands, including companies such as Oppo, Realme, and OnePlus, may be looking to enter the electric vehicle market in India. As per reports, these big brands of smartphones have already applied for trademark registrations in India to expedite their process of manufacturing electric vehicles in India. As India is aggressively approaching the era of E-mobility, these brands also want to try their luck in the Electric Vehicle market.

Now various news reports claim that Oppo is serious about its plans and it will introduce its electric vehicle in India by the end of 2023 or early 2024. Smartphone maker Oppo is now about to enter the automobile sector. In such an initiative and effort in the EV market, the company is all set to begin its manufacturing of its first Electric Vehicle (EV) in the country. However, it is not yet known whether this will be an electric car or an electric scooter, but Oppo recently applied for the trademark of an electric vehicle. There are also reports that the company has already started its production and manufacturing work.

When will Oppo's electric vehicle launch?

We can expect Oppo's first electric vehicle in India by the end of 2023 or it may be extended to the first quarter of 2024. On the other hand, it is not yet known what kind of EV Oppo is planning to launch in India. However, Oppo has started holding meetings with battery makers and parts suppliers to boost up their process. It is also said that some of these firms also supply parts to various other major companies like Tesla.

Oppo's Electric Vehicle is likely to be an Electric scooter

The speed with which the demand for two-wheeled electric scooters has increased in India has attracted many new companies. Today in India, well-known companies like Bajaj and Honda, TVs, as well as some new companies like Ola, Okinawa, Ather, Simple One have also entered the electric two-wheeler segment and their vehicles are also being liked a lot by the citizens of India. However, the Ola Electric scooter is yet to be delivered to the pre-bookers and is being delayed due to the unavailability of parts. Therefore, it is likely that Oppo will make its debut in the automobile sector with smaller products like electric scooters.

These companies have also applied for a trademark

Not only is Oppo making an entry in the electric vehicle segment in India, but Realme has also applied to trademark its electric scooter in India. Also, Xiaomi is planning to enter the EV space in a big way. The company expects to make its debut in the electric vehicle market in the first half of 2024. The company already sells portable electric scooters in international markets.

The month of October 2021 has been very good for the sales of electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers. In October, their sales stood at 38,170 units, up 11 percent every month. At the same time, there has been a jump of 250 percent in their sales on an annual basis. According to the CEEW (Energy, Environment and Water Council) based on the data available on the vehicle dashboard, the total EV sales have crossed the 30,000 units mark for the second consecutive month.

All this news does not give any technical or hardware information about Oppo's EV. But if the company is thinking about launching its electric vehicles by the end of 2023, then we can expect more information about their plans or about their product in the coming year. It remains to be seen whether Oppo will partner with a third party to manufacture the electric vehicles or will it only source the parts and make them on its own.
